Requirements for Getting Married in Belize
General Requirements
- Complete application for a marriage license, notarized by a Justice of the Peace.
- Passport photo page showing date of arrival in Belize (photocopy accepted).
- Wedding couple must be in Belize for 3 business days before applying for a marriage license.
- An expedited license option is available for an additional US$225 Government Fee if the 3-day requirement cannot be met.
Important Information
- If either party is previously married the following is needed:
- Widow/Widower: Original death certificate of the deceased spouse.
- Divorced: Certified original final divorce decree.
- Legal registration of your marriage license. Your marriage in Belize is recognized worldwide.
- All ceremonies are conducted in English

- Justice of the Peace Wedding Officiator (ministers are available upon request at an additional charge).
- Processing of Marriage License (for weddings outside of the required three day stay an additional charge is assessed by the government to expedite the paperwork and obtain a permit).
- Bottle of Champagne and room decoration on upon arrival
- Services of on-site wedding planner beginning at the time of booking
- Seating for 51-70 guests at wedding ceremony. Seating includes white chair cover and chair tieback.
