Top Things to Do at Your Resort at Night
A vacation in Belize may have you jam-packing your days with exciting excursions to the reef, the jungles and everywhere in between. But what is there to do in the evenings once the sun goes down? After a day of adventuring, hunkering down at your resort can be just the right thing to compliment all that activity. You are on vacation after all, and as fun as it can be to be on the go, taking time to relax and slow down can be just as important. We’ve all returned home from one trip or another, facing a new work week and the feeling of needing a vacation from our vacation. Combat that by taking time in the evenings to enjoy what can be offered right at your resort.
#1. A romantic walk on the beach
When you’re on a trip for two, add a little romance with a simple evening walk on the beach to foster connection and take time to talk. The sound of the waves on the reef just offshore and the quiet of the evening help to open up space to just enjoy each other’s company with nowhere to be.
#2. Soak in the heated swim-up pool bar
Unwind and relax in the heated swim-up pool bar at Costa Blu Adults Only Beach Resort. The Blu Beach Bar has a dry dock under the palapa but everyone’s favorite place to be is in the warm pool with a favorite tropical cocktail. The bar is open daily until 9pm.
#3. Dinner at Blu Restaurant
Enjoy dinner without needing to leave the resort when you dine at Blu Restaurant. Choose from air-conditioned comfort inside the dining room, take advantage of the fresh sea breeze and dine al fresco on the veranda or even order your meal as room service to be delivered to your private balcony or suite. Blu is open daily until 8:45pm.
#4. Dock sitting, conversation, and cocktails
The dock at Costa Blu is large and spacious and the perfect spot to bring your beverage of choice, your favorite conversation partner and park with your feet dangling off the edge. It’s quiet, peaceful and a great spot to debrief your day, plan the next adventure or just sit and enjoy the company in silence.
#5. Relax on your balcony
Take advantage of the balcony that every suite at Costa Blu has. The upper units have an uncovered patio and the lower units have a covered veranda. All units have outdoor furniture and great views of the tropical landscaping, the beach and of course the Caribbean Sea and Belize Barrier Reef just offshore.
#6. Look for nocturnal marine creatures and birds along the seawall
Grab a flashlight and head to the shoreline where the low seawall along the beach provides the perfect vantage point for checking out the nocturnal wildlife. You’ll see crabs, lots of fish, maybe even a squid, octopus or stingray. Various species of herons and shorebirds can be seen fishing in the shallows as well. Guide books on hand in the lobby can help you ID your finds if you’re so inclined.
#7. Watch the incredible star show on a clear night
One of the most common refrains from new visitors to Belize is how bright the night sky is here. With much lower light pollution than in North America, especially on the island, when there are no clouds at night you can take in a spectacular star show. The Milky Way is easy to see and many of the common constellations as well. If your trip coincides with a full moon, be sure to watch it rise over the reef, a magical sight.
There are seven ideas offered here, but you are sure to come up with more. The (night) sky is the limit! Of course, there are other nightlife hotspots to check out throughout the island and in San Pedro Town. But don’t overlook the value of a few quieter nights in with your sweetheart. Make sure to take time for relaxation and reconnection as well. Belize is waiting!
