Escape Day Spa is our proud partner at all Sandy Point Resorts. In addition to a healthy variety of massage options and spa packages are the truly unique spa treatments. The spa menu uses locally sourced and organic products as much as possible, and in the verdant land of Belize, many of these can be found not too far from home. Their signature organic coconut oil is sourced straight from the producers in Corozal Town, ensuring that it is kept pure and not mixed with any other oil.
Founder Kristi Gonzalez was born and raised in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye and formally trained in massage at the Atlanta School of Massage and Florida College of Natural Health. In her own words, “We invite you to lose track of the outside world, in a special timeless space, where you can relax, reflect and revitalize with your Escape Spa experience… balance, relaxation and rejuvenation are the goals of our treatments, for your mind, body, and spirit.” All of the spa treatments that Kristi and her team of certified massage and spa therapists offer are created in-house and made from scratch. The simple list of ingredients for each treatment lets you (literally) rest easy knowing that there are no unnecessary chemicals or harsh additives.
Even with the best of intentions, it is far too easy to find your shoulders rosy or your nose a little crispy while enjoying the sea and sand of Belize. The aloe vera in their Sunburn Treatment is harvested just prior and mixed with fresh cucumber- now that sounds like a restorative combo. A co-op in Placencia provides the seaweed which is the star of the aptly named Seacret Facial. Kristi boils it down herself, adding jojoba oil and Vitamin E to finish up the mask. The decadent Chocolate Facial has a whopping two ingredients: organic Belizean cocoa powder and honey. Sign me up!
An added bonus to the Escape Day Spa experience is that they are a mobile spa, enabling them to come directly to you. As Kristi says “we don’t have a spa, but make sure that all of our guests receive a spa experience every time.” You can choose to have your treatments on the beach or in the privacy of your room or balcony. Packages are done as one unit and cannot be split up, likewise, they must all be done in the same location. Booking your spa treatment is as easy as visiting the Guest Services desk at your resort. Spa services can be charged to your room account and paid upon departure.
Indulge yourself and try a little spa pampering on your next visit to Belize. Treatments and massages also make great surprise gifts for special occasions while on vacation. Many honeymooners or those celebrating an anniversary can’t go wrong with a couple's massage on the beach. What is your favorite spa treatment while on vacation? Tell us in the comments.
