Fun Family Places to Explore in San Pedro

Planning a family vacation to San Pedro, Belize? We’ve got you covered with five of our favorite family fun places on the island.  In addition to the many great family tours, there are some fun stops right on the island to explore with the whole family.  In addition to these, check out this list of 15 free things to do in Belize with kids.  While you are sure to spend some days at your resort, cooling off by the pool or even zipping through the jungle on a mainland canopy tour, there are some great places to check out right on Ambergris Caye.  They are all low-key and easy to fit into your day. We’re talking ice cream, chocolate, playgrounds, a hidden beach and a very fun food truck park.  Read on for all the details-  happy exploring!

Belize Chocolate Company

Try some real Belizean chocolate during your vacation, and even take a chocolate class!  Lasting about 30 minutes, they include an informational video, chocolate tasting and a discussion on all things Belize chocolate.  Visit their website, here, to sign up today for a 10:30am session.  Located right next door to the Sandy Point Resorts dock, it’s a fun and convenient stop sure to please everyone.

Central Park

A great kid-friendly park in downtown San Pedro, right on the beach.  It’s centrally located and the site of many fun events in town.  During the winter holidays, there is even a large Christmas tree in the heart of the park.  There is a large play structure and benches, with great views of the sea.  This is a great stop for when the kids just need to burn a little energy in between exploring San Pedro Town.

Paradice Cream

Perhaps the best pun on the island, Paradice Cream is the place to go for a cold treat. Located very near to the airstrip, it’s a convenient stop in town.  Grab a Frequent Dipper card and earn a free cone for every seven you purchase.  Challenge accepted.

Secret Beach

The best walk-in beach on the island with a sandy bottom and fantastic views.  More restaurants and beach activities are always being added.  This not-so-secret beach is fast becoming an island favorite.  To get there, rent a golf card and drive north to Mile 4.5 and then follow the signs to Secret Beach.

The Truck Stop

A shipping container food-truck park, unique in Belize.  With four different food trucks, one being an ice cream shop, everyone can find a favorite meal or snack.  There is a bar for adults as well with a central outdoor seating area.  Watch for fun special game nights, family movie night, take a dip in the pool or play one of the life-sized yard games in the back.
